    We heard from one of our suppliers yesterday about a rumored merger between Schawk and SGS. Anyone know if there’s truth to this rumor?

    All I know is that this rumor has been flying around for a long time, DamonJ. If it’s true I would guess it’ll happen shortly, but it’s an interesting dance going on. I have heard rumors of sales people being let go from both companies - Mercurius Wotan says SGS disbanded its Lean Business Solutions group - Automation12345 said in his rebuttal (see Obsessive Focus on..? post) said alot about the mechanical things and market forces but never said there wouldn’t be a merger. And today prepresspro posted an interesting little note in that same thread and seems to be an operator at SGS - defending the quality of the work (I wouldn’t dispute their assertions at all - Southern does good work for good brands) but said it might be possible that the SGS Pres is going to ride off into the sunset but that the peeps in the company are working hard and proud of their output. Muy interesante!

    Latest rumor posted in our “Obsessive Focus On….” string - comments issued by ‘That Said’ that Sonoco is involved in this SGS/Schawk thing- anybody have any insights? Sonoco is an interesting thought….
